Sokratis has reunited with Mkhitaryan at Arsenal following the pair’s successful time together at Borussia Dortmund.
The two are good friends and Arsenal’s new £17m defender is excited to play alongside the Armenian, who joined from Manchester United in January, once again.
Mkhitaryan’s Gunners career is yet to catch fire but Sokratis is expecting big things from him this season.
The Greek ace said: “With the ball, without the ball, how he works for the team, when he creates, when he returns with the team… it’s just amazing.
“What he showed in his last year in Dortmund, he was one of the best in the Bundesliga. I think he can also be one of the best here in the Premier League.”
Sokratis joined from Dortmund earlier this month, penning a long-term contract at the Emirates.
The 30-year-old has revealed he talked with Mkhitaryan and fellow ex-Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before joining the Gunners.
He said: “I spoke [to them] a lot times.
“They said to me the best things about this club, that it is one big family and of course they also called me not every day but a lot of times telling me to come here.”
It’s also very beautiful that I’ve come to one team but I also have two players who I was together with for a lot of years.
“I know them both very well and I’m very happy.”
Arsenal have begun their pre-season schedule and are set to take on Atletico Madrid and Paris St-Germain in Singapore next week.
Sokratis and Mkhitaryan are both expected to start as the Gunners kick off their new Premier League campaign at home to Manchester City on August 12.
