MANCHESTER UNITED will demand £70m for Anthony Martial if the French forward continues to press for a move away from Old Trafford.United would prefer to keep Martial but his agent claimed last week that he wants to leave the club.
And in the event of that happening, United would value Martial, 22, at £70m, having signed him from Monaco three years ago in a package which could reach £57.6m.
He is believed to be unhappy at not being a regular starter under Jose Mourinho and his situation is being eyed by a number of clubs, including Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain.
Spain’s keeper, 27, has been in talks on a new Old Trafford contract for more than three months.
The Daily Star Sunday revealed then that a £350k-a-week deal was discussed.
And that is still the level of contract being sought by De Gea’s agents – particularly following the mega deal secured by Alexis Sanchez when he moved to United from Arsenal.
De Gea signed a deal at £210k-a-week contract three years ago, which has a year to run.
But it is believed there is an option to extend that by 12 months.
Both parties, though, would prefer to reach agreement on a new deal, which is believed to be close.
De Gea made a high-profile howler in Friday night’s 3-3 thriller against Portugal when he allowed Cristiano Ronaldo’s shot to ricochet off his hand and trickle over the line.
But that makes no difference to Mourinho, who regards him as one of the best stoppers in the world.
