English defender, Luke Shaw has reportedly demanded a severance package of £5 million if he is to be forced out of Old Trafford in January.
The English international has been heavily plagued by injuries and fitness issues since he made his big money move from Southampton to Manchester United in 2014 for a fee reported to be in the region of £30 million.
Reports from English publication the Sun suggests United are ready to part ways with the Englishman in the January transfer window and will listen to offers in the region of £20 million. However, they have a battle on their hands since fellow English side Arsenal fc is reported to also be keenly interested in the defender.
However, the severance package offered to Luke Shaw by the Red devils might be a stumbling block with the 20-times Premier League champions ready to offer £2 million for the former Southampton defender to exit the Theatre of Dreams in the winter transfer window, a figure which is £3 million short of the youngster demands.
The 22-year-old has found game hard to come by so far, this season having started just three games in all competitions for the Red Devils with Mourinho preferring to start Ashley Young and Daley Blind ahead of the English defender.
Although, a man of the match performance against Russian side, CSKA Moscow in the Champions League might save his Old Trafford career with the Special One impressed with his performance and insists the defender will get more playing time as United face a grueling and defining December period.
