Manchester United are keeping tabs on Lorenzo Pellegrini after an impressive start to the season and has been dubbed as one of the highly rated youngster in the Serie A this season, but we must fend off competition from our rival Chelsea who are also keen on the Italian midfielder. The odds of Pellegrini joining United are quite slim but it is more likely than Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Old Trafford one that even bettors with would not use their free bets on though.

The Italian international has become a regular starter under new coach Eusebio Di Francesco who joined the club in the summer after his predecessor Luciano Spalletti took over the reins at rivals Inter Milan. The Italian midfielder has a release clause of €25m (£22.1m) and could be prized away from from the Stadio Olimpico once his release clause is activated.

The Italian youngster grew from the ranks at Boyhood club AS Roma and was handed his senior official debut by former Roma Coach Rudi Garcia in March 2015 in 1-0 over Cesena having come on as a substitute in the second half. In the summer of 2015, he joined Serie A side Sassuolo for a fee in the region of €1.25 million, but a buy back clause of €8-10 million has been inserted in the deal. Man United will have to cough out double that amount if he is to make a move to Old Trafford.

After an impressive two year spell at Italian side Sassuolo, most especially in the 2016/2017 season when he scored 8 eight goals and provided 7 assists in 34 games across all competitions, Roma exercised their buy back option of €10 million and resigned the youngster on a five year deal in the summer.

We are getting quite lean in the central midfield. The central midfield may need more legs if the likes of Michael Carrick and Maroaune Fellaini leave when the season elapses. Both have less than a year to run on their current contract and the need for young players in that department cannot be overemphasized.

Pellegrini at 21 is just what the doctor prescribed for us since he is young and could be an understudy to veteran midfielder Carrick. The youngster can also play as an attacking midfielder and defensive midfielder when the need arises

Pellegrini has made a total of 11 appearances for the Giallorossi in all competitions this season but he is yet to score a single goal.
