Manchester United appear to all of a sudden be gaining genuine ground with their summer transfer business, with prized Monaco star Fabinho now the most recent player reported to be ‘closing in’ on a move to Old Trafford.

United formally reported an agreement with Benfica over the transfer of Victor Lindelof on Saturday night, while Alvaro Morata is expected to rapidly move from Real Madrid once a fee is formally negotiated with the consecutive European champions.

The Manchester Evening News refers to reports in three nations to propose that Fabinho could well be the third fresh signing of the mid year as Jose Mourinho hopes to boost his squad fit for mounting genuine difficulties on different fronts in 2017/18.

It is said that progress is being made and that United is the only club the 23-year-old has any enthusiasm for joining should he not proceed at Monaco next season.
