Fresh from winning their fifth consecutive Bundesliga title, Bayern Munich have revealed their home kit for the 2017/18 season.
The Bavarians new adidas design modelled by Thomas Muller, welcomes back the white stripes to the kit, similar to the ones worn by the likes of Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Muller and Uli Hoeness in the 70s.
The new kit has some modern touches to touch up the retro stripes, with T-Mobile continuing their sponsorship, and the clubs moto – ‘Mia san Mia’ emblazoned across the neck of the design, which roughly translates to ‘We know where we come from, who we are and what we aim for’.
The Bayern sides of the 1970s enjoyed unrivalled success, winning three league titles and three European Cups in consecutive years between 1974 and 1976.
This decade’s squad has been arguably just as successful, although Carlo Ancelotti and his side will be desperate to catch their predecessors on the European front, having failed to make the final of the Champions League since they last won it in 2013.
Bayern will wear the new colours when they take to the pitch for their final league clash of the season against Freiburg on Saturday, where they are set to lift the Bundesliga trophy in front of their home fans at the Allianz Arena.
