A new brand name will appear on Everton FC shirt starting from next season after the club announced on Monday that Kenya-based gaming company SportPesa has replaced Chang Beer as the club’s official shirt sponsor.
SportPesa, who also sponsor Hull City, will replace Chang Beer on the front of the club’s kits next season after both parties signed a five-year contract, the biggest sponsorship deal in Everton’s history worth £75m according to the Toffees chief executive officer Robert Elstone.
The firm SportPesa will set up a new European headquarters in Liverpool which will create over 70 new jobs having experienced rapid growth since its launch in 2014 and is now the title sponsor of Kenya’s top-flight and African gaming partner to La Liga.
“We’re pleased to have secured the biggest commercial partnership deal in the club’s history with an ambitious and growing, global company,” Elstone said in an official club statement on Monday.
“From the outset we have been impressed by SportPesa and the company’s plans for the future. Over the coming months and years we will be working closely to realise our ambitions together.”
Thai company, Chang, who is Everton’s main partner, recently agreed a three-year community partnership with the Merseyside club after 13 years as shirt sponsors.
