Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is desperate to bridge his leaking defence and the German tactician has started the rebuilding process from inside the goalpost with this latest report claiming he has signed off a £20m bid for England goalkeeper Joe Hart.
Neither Simon Mignolet or Loris Karius have looked convincing between the sticks, so Klopp has reportedly decided to recruit a new stopper this summer according to The Sun newspaper.
The Reds are the leading scorers in the Premier League so far this season, but they have been far less impressive at the other end of the pitch. Having conceded 18 more goals than Tottenham, 16 more than rivals Manchester United and 13 more than leaders Chelsea.
Liverpool’s weak links have been identified in centre-back, left-back and in defensive midfield but they have also suffered due to their lack of a top-class goalkeeper.
Hart is currently on loan at Serie A club Torino from Manchester City but the experienced goalie who celebrates his 30th birthday today has two years left to run on his current contract at the Etihad Stadium.
