Daniel Sturridge’s persistent injury which has prevented the England striker from staying fit and find his form again this season coupled with Roberto Firmino’s lack of consistency will definitely push Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp into the summer transfer market in search of a new attacker.
Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams has welcomed speculation linking him with Liverpool, but insists that his future is in Spain for now.
Inaki has established himself as a promising young talent with the La Liga side, and has scored four goals and provided seven assists in 30 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
“There’s a lot of speculation, but I’m calm,” the 22-year-old Spaniard said in a recent interview as quoted by Sportium News.
“If they’re watching me it’s because I’m doing things right. I’m privileged. If I have to leave tomorrow, I will always be very honest with Athletic. They gave me everything. I don’t want to change my surroundings. It’s my first choice right now.
“If there are offers, I will speak with Athletic. It’s my home. The first thing I would do is talk to the President. He’s been very good to me.
“It’s always good that other clubs speak well of you. They don’t distract me. I give everything every time I step on the pitch. Defending the Athletic shirt is a source of pride.”
Liverpool on the other hand must win thier remaining 14 Premier League matches to stand a chance of going toe to toe for this season’s title after recent setbacks where they have failed to record a win in eight outings.
The Reds host Tottenham Hotspur later today in a must win game for the home side at Anfield.
