England and Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has blasted Premier League leaders Chelsea claiming on BT Sport coverage of the Emirates FA third round games on Saturday that Antonio Conte’s sides are not as convincing as he thought.
The iconic midfielder went further to state that his former club United will jump back into the title race if they beat Liverpool next week. The Red Devil have been on a run of eight consecutive wins in all competitions.
“I don’t think Chelsea are that convincing. Man City are having their own problems, and if United beat Liverpool next week I think they’re right back in it,” Scholes said after Jose Mourinho’s side defeated Championship club Reading 4-0 on Saturday at Old Trafford with the iconic playmaker working as a pundit on BT Sport.
Chelsea have been on a terrific run of 13-game winning streak until they were brought down to earth by Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane at the weekend after two Dele Ali goals confined them to a demoralising defeat.
They can only shun critics by getting back to winning ways and prove they’re genuine title contenders when they face defending champions Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on January 14.
The Blues host Peterborough in the FA Cup third round tomorrow at Stamford Bridge.
