Brazil legend Ronaldo says he’s ‘shocked’ at comments made by former team-mate Michael Owen about his weight gain.
Ronaldo, 40, played alongside Owen at the Bernabeu throughout the 2004/2005 season.
The pair were reacquainted on the weekend when a selection of Real Madrid’s previous Ballon d’Or winners attended the presenting of Cristiano Ronaldo’s award ahead of the side’s clash with Granada.
Owen, 37, shared a photo of the occasion on Twitter following the presentation and left the following comment about Ronaldo: ‘I thought I was putting the pounds on until I saw my old mate Ronnie!’

Ronaldo didn’t take kindly to Owen’s choice of words and says he’s ‘shocked’ at the fascination surrounding his weight.
‘I am shocked as to how much importance my weight garners in the world we live in,’ Ronaldo told AS.
‘I don’t know why it is so important, to be honest.’
