Everton have confirmed the signing of talented Nigerian electrifying winger on a four-and-a-half-year contract which will keep him at Goodison Park until the summer of 2021.
The Toffees have snapped up 19-year-old Ademola Lookman popularly known as ‘Mola’ from Charlton Athletic for a fee believed to be in the region of £10m.
Lookman made 49 appearances for Charlton after coming through the club’s youth set-up though the League One side had been keen to keep him at The Valley on loan for the rest of the season but Everton boss Ronald Koeman wants his new recruit to be involved with his first team squad.
“It feels great to be an Everton player,” Mola, who will wear No 31 shirt at Everton said after putting pen to paper on Thursday.
“As soon as I heard about Everton’s interest I knew this would be the right place for me.
“Everton has a big history and I was also attracted by the manager.
“When you look at what he did at Southampton, and what he does with young players in terms of developing them, that was a big attraction.
“It was great playing in the Championship last season and for the last six months in League One but I feel like I’m ready to make the step up to the Premier League.”
Lookman only joined the Charlton youth set-up in 2014 from south London-based amateur side Waterloo FC. But an impressive goal record for the Addicks’ Under 18 and U21 sides saw him make a meteoric rise into the senior set-up.
He has chipped in seven goals in 24 appearances for Charlton this season.
