Former Arsenal striker has sealed a January move to Turkish Super Lig outfit Istanbul Basaksehir after talks with league leaders Besiktas broke down over the 32-year-old’s wage demands.

Emmanuel Adebayor, who will wear jersey No 26 at the Fatih Terim Stadium, was released by Crystal Palace at the end of last season and has been without a club since.

He demanded a package worth £3million per year, but Besiktas were only willing to offer £2m for the player’s services.

Adebayor spent six months at Selhurst Park, scoring just once in 15 appearances after quitting Tottenham Hotspur in acrimonious circumstances.

The notorious former Real Madrid forward is back in European football after his country Togo crashed out of the African Cup of Nations in Gabon at the group stages following one draw and two defeats.
