Germany legend Lothar Matthaus believes Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is worth much more than Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba who holds the record of the most expensive transfer.
Matthaus, in conversation with Bild, spoke highly of the talents of Borussia Dortmund’s star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, calling him one the world’s best.
“Aubameyang has become one of the best players in the world and it’s no wonder that many clubs are chasing his signature” he explained.
The speedy Gabon international has more goals than games in the Bundesliga this season, leading the league’s scoring charts with 16 strikes in 15 outings, and has become one of the most coveted forwards in world football, with Real Madrid predictably amongst those linked with his signature.
1990 Ballon d’Or Winner Matthaus also compared Aubameyang’s successes to that of world record transfer holder Paul Pogba, who he hinted was perhaps a little overpriced.
“If a player like Pogba is worth €105 million, then Aubameyang is worth €150 million. He is a player that makes the difference, unlike Pogba”.
