Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez has become famous for his affection for canines and he has even taken his passion for them further by setting up Instagram account for his two terriers Atom and Humber.
The golden retrievers have become internet sensations after the Chile international forward projected them to the world via Instagram in August, which amassed more than 13,000 followers in the first day.
Both dogs have even appeared in television adverts and on billboards in Santiago, Sanchez’s home town.
However, Sanchez has taken time out of his busy Premier League preparation schedules to explain to his fans how he coined the names for his adorable dogs.
“Atom is one of the characters in a movie called Real Steel,” Sanchez told Arsenal Player.
“Atom the robot is very old and apparently useless but when he starts fighting he beats the best robots in the world. I like the movie so much that I thought I would call my first dog Atom.
“My other dog Humber reminds me of my brother Humberto. My brother is a very sweet guy, just like Humber is. Both of them enjoy staying home or watching football on TV. That’s why I decided to call my other dog Humber.
“I just had the idea of creating an Instagram account for them so people could follow what they do. The thing is both became famous in Chile after starring in Master Dog’s advert.”
On the pitch, Sanchez has been in sizzling form for Arsenal this term albeit the 27-year-old contract remains an issue to be sorted but that hasn’t stopped the former Barcelona forward from scoring 13 goals in his last 20 appearances for Arsène Wenger’s side.
Sanchez will be looking to add to his goal tally for the new campaign when Arsenal host Stoke City in the Premier League on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium.
