Real Madrid have confirmed their 26-year-old German midfielder has signed a six-year contract extension which will keep the World Cup winner at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2022.

Toni Kroos has put pen to paper on a fresh deal that will reportedly see him earn €20m a year.

A club statement read: “Real Madrid C. F. and Toni Kroos have come to an agreement on a contract extension which will see the player linked to the club until 30 June 2022.

Kroos has played in 108 games for the Spanish giants, scoring just four goals, but has played an integral role in their midfield under various managers with his vision, range of passing and defensive solidity.

The former Bayern Munich star has won the Champions League, Club World Cup winners medal along with a European Super Cup since leaving Bundesliga for the Spanish Liga.
