Manchester United have confirmed the return of England striker after the 20-year-old picked up an injury while on loan at Derby County.

England Under-21 international James Wilson suffered the injury during a training session on Monday ahead of Derby’s Championship clash with Brentford and is now back at Old Trafford for medical assessment on the knee.

Wilson, who was used sparingly by former United boss Louis van Gaal, joined the Rams on a season-long loan deal in the summer.

He has made three starts at Derby plus a further appearance as a substitute, scoring in the Checkatrade Trophy draw with Doncaster Rovers earlier this month.
