Liverpool have reportedly terminated the £75,000-per-week contract of 30-year-old Spaniard Jose Enrique with immediate alacrity.
The Newcastle United hero was due to leave Liverpool this summer when West Brom came for him but given that he had not been involved in the first team under Jurgen Klopp in recent months, the decision has been taken to allow Enrique to start searching for a new club.
Enrique has been a fugitive at Anfield in the last two seasons due to a plethora of injuries that have refused to heal and the left-back has made just nine appearances in 2014-15 for Brendan Rodgers and was frozen out of the first team squad last summer.
In Enrique’s absence, Alberto Moreno has become Liverpool’s first choice left back under Klopp, with the German also interested in signing Leicester City youngster Ben Chilwell this summer to boost his options in the position.
He cost Liverpool £5million in August 2011 when he arrived from St James’ Park.
