Liverpool are set to open negotiations with Leicester City regarding a deal for talented left-back Ben Chilwell.
The defender, who has also been strongly been linked with a move to Arsenal, spent part of the season on loan at Huddersfield Town before returning to Leicester and featuring in the FA Cup.
Liverpool are hopeful of signing Chilwell ahead of Arsenal as they seek to bolster their left-back options, especially following Alberto Moreno’s struggles this season, as reported by the Telegraph.
The newspaper reports that Jurgen Klopp views the youngster as a priority signing and the Reds will hold talks in the coming days.
Chilwell has represented England at U18, U19 and U20 levels and has now been drafted into the U21 squad. The prospect is seen as one of the country’s brightest young talents, and it will surely take a sizeable fee for Leicester to agree to sell him.
This is likely to be a very busy summer for Liverpool, with Klopp seeking to bolster his squad ahead of next season. The German will welcome at least two new players this summer in Marko Grujic and Joel Matip, while there could be several other arrivals at Anfield.
The German may also seek to sell some of the players that he believes have underperformed this season, with Moreno, who has made two defensive errors in the Premier League, amongst those who could be replaced.
