Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger is planning to spend big in this summer transfer window.
The Telegraph reports that Wenger is hopeful of completing the signing of 23-year-old Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka for £35m which could make him the third most expensive player in the Gunners’ history behind Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
Wenger is prioritising a new central midfielder and finally seems as though he is ready to splash the cash to solve what has long been a problem area.
While there is no agreement in place yet, The Telegraph understands that the Gunners are now moving towards a negotiated price of £30m.
It is understood Xhaka is keen on a move to the Premier League, but must still agree personal terms over a long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium.
