Arsenal’s frustrating 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon put them 13 points behind Barclays Premier League leaders Leicester City.
Yannick Bolasie struck late for Palace to secure a draw after Alexis Sanchez had given the hosts the lead with a looping header.
The result completely dented Arsenal’s hopes of winning the league title for the first time in 12 years and former England and Newcastle United captain Alan Shearer believes the only magic Gunners boss Arsène Wenger can conjure is to bring a ‘world-class striker’ to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
“They won’t win the league until they sign a top class, world-class striker, who can get 25 or 30 goals a season,” the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer said.
“I’ve been saying all season that they’re at least two players, top players short, and my view hasn’t changed on that.”
