Paul Scholes believes West Ham United will go into their FA Cup quarter-final replay with Manchester United as favourites after playing out a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.

Dimitri Payet’s sensational 35-yard free-kick put the Hammers in front before Anthony Martial’s late equaliser sealed a point and an Upton Park replay for the hosts.

The Hammers will now host United to decide who will join Everton, Crystal Palace and Watford in the semi-finals of the competition.

“I think it was important they (United)got some kind of result today and they did that with a draw. I still have to make West Ham slight favourites going to their place,” Scholes said on BT Sport.

“That final bit of quality was just missing but I thought they played alright. They controlled possession like they usually do at Old Trafford and I’m certain the fair result was definitely the draw.”
