Inter Milan president Erick Thohir has reaffirmed his desire to keep ‘the core’ of his team together as the reason why he won’t sell Mauro Icardi any time soon.
The 22-year-old Argentine forward has been a target for Manchester United as well as Chelsea and Serie A giants Juventus.
“Icardi is part of our project,” Thohir insisted in an interview with Sky Italia.
“[Jeison] Murillo, Miranda, [Gary] Medel, [Geoffrey] Kondogbia, for example, are part of a project, as well as Mauro.
“The same applies to [Alex] Telles, [Stevan] Jovetic, [Adem] Ljajic and others. We have a plan which includes them all.
“For example, [Rodrigo] Palacio has renewed and we’re talking to [Yuto] Nagatomo now. We want to build a core which will remain for two or three seasons.
“We can’t change the team every year, so we have to keep the core of the squad and maybe buy two or three players.”
