Arsenal’s most injured player of all-time is set to return to real football action this week for the first time in 506 days and is expected to make his debut for Ligue 1 club Olympique Marseille in Coupe de France match against Trelissac.

Abou Diaby spent ten long seasons at Arsenal, where the 29-year-old French midfielder averaged fewer than 13 league appearances per year and made just 16 in his final four seasons with the club due to mountainous injuries.

He has been added to the 19-man Marseille matchday squad for the first time since joining the club last summer after being released from Arsenal.

The last time Diaby featured for Arsenal was September 2014 when he played 66 minutes of their 2-1 Capital One Cup loss to Southampton.
