Arsenal’s 2-0 home defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League round of 16 first leg during the week has highlighted the need for the Gunners to augment their attacking options.
It comes as no surprise though with reports suggesting that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has tried to bring Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema as well has red-hot Barcelona striker Luis Suarez to the Emirates Stadium to replace French striker Olivier Giroud.
Wenger was on the verge of signing Uruguayan talisman from Liverpool for a fee reportedly worth £42m in 2013 before he sealed a move to Camp Nou and has since formed a notorious trident alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar.
Arsenal are in desperate need of more firepower up front and Wenger could be tempted to rekindle his pursuit of a new striker again over the summer according to respected Spanish journalist Kike Marin with Giroud struggling to find the net in his eight previous outings.
The north London club have also been heavily linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who has netted 22 Bundesliga goals this season in 22 matches.
