Mesut Ozil is gushing over his new laceless Adidas Ace 16+ Purecontrol boots and the 27-year-old German midfielder is hoping to provide more assists for his Arsenal team-mates.
Ozil, who has created 16 assists already this season for the Gunners scoring four goals in the process, has hailed his novel pair of footwear as ‘dream come true’.
“I always used to have the same ritual before every game where I make only knots with the laces instead of tying them in the traditional way, and then tuck them in,” the former Real Madrid playmaker said.
“I think that if you tie your laces in the traditional way it’s harder to control the ball as the surface area is not flat.
“I’ve tried my whole career to minimise the impact of laces on my game. To have a laceless boot is a dream come true.
“I revealed to adidas in 2014 that in the changing room I knot the laces over and over again and then tuck in the ends, that way they do not interfere with my touch.
“I cannot wait to wear them on the pitch.”
Ozil could roll out his boots against Chelsea on Sunday provided he shakes off his foot injury.
