Liverpool are set for a windfall of over £3million if Jonjo Shelvey’s move from Swansea to Newcastle United goes through this month.

The Reds had inserted a sell-on clause worth 30% on the 22-year-old England midfielder when they sold him to Swansea City in 2013, meaning they will get a cash reward of about £3.6million from the £12m deal.

Shelvey has found playing minutes limited this season at the Liberty Stadium and has managed to garner 24 appearances for club and country scoring only one goal in the Swans 2-2 draw with Bournemouth in November.
