Laurent Koscielny has hailed his France and Arsenal team-mate Olivier Giroud for his big nose which enables the 28-year-old striker smell troubles from far away.
Giroud has been in fine form the Gunners this term as they aim at the Barclays Premier League title for the first time in 12 years scoring 19 goals in the 32 appearances in all competitions for Arsene Wenger’s side.
His high work rate has also seen him score nine goals in his last 11 games for Arsenal and Koscielny isn’t just a goalscorer but rather a team player who also helps the defence especially during set pieces.
The defender told Arsenal’s official website: “He’s so massive and that’s one of the best qualities for a striker. When he can play like this, with one or two touches and staying in the box, which is where we want him, we can score in the air.
“I think Olivier has a work rate for the team which is very high. He’s not just a forward, he’s always there (when we have) free-kicks or corners against us.
“You can see now that he smells the situations well when he needs to shoot quickly, or control the ball, like he did against Liverpool with his second goal.”
Giroud will be looking to increase his goal tally for Arsenal on Saturday when they host Championship side Burnley in the Emirates FA Cup.
