Barclays Premier League player of the month for December is reportedly top of Arsenal’s January transfer window shopping list as Arsene Wenger looks to make the 26-year-old Nigerian striker his second signing after bringing Mohamed Elneny to the Emirates Stadium.
Odion Ighalo has scored 13 goals for newly promoted Watford this season after joining in the summer and netted five goals in December last year to win the monthly Barclays gong.
It is understood Arsenal want a ‘top quality striker’, and that Wenger is already considering two options in Ighalo and Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang although it is unclear whether the Frenchman is planning to make a move in January or will wait until the summer.
Aubameyang, who was recently named
as CAF African Footballer of the Year for
2015 has already scored 18 goals in 17 Bundesliga outings so far this season and he could be a lethal prospect to lead the line for the Gunners alongside the in-form Olivier Giroud in the absence of crocked Chilean Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck.
