Four-time African Footballer of the year Samuel Eto’o has landed his first managerial job.
The 34-year-old Cameroonian striker has been named Antalyaspor’s interim player-manager in the Turkish league following resignation of Yusuf Simsek and will be assisted by technical director Mehmet Ugurlu.
Eto’s first games in charge of Antalyaspor will be league matches against Trabzonspor, Fenerbahce and Gaziantepspor.
The former Barcelona and Inter Milan Champions League winner sealed a move to Antalyaspor in the summer from Serie A side Sampdoria after a tumultuous spell with Chelsea.
Eto’o is Super Lig’s top scorer with 13 goals in 15 leagues games so far this season for Antalyaspor.
