He is the hot favourite to dethrone Yaya Toure as the next king of African football this year and he has netted 20 goals this season already for German giants Borussia Dortmund to justify his goalscoring ability.
Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick has been on terrific form this season for Dortmund running defenders ragged in the Bundesliga with his physical strength and goals, something he claims he ‘was born’ to do.
Though, Aubameyang did not score in Dortmund’s 3-1 win over Werder Bremen but he still beaming with confidence and rearing to score more goals in his career and he revealed in an interview with Telefoot that he has set himself a target to reach the phenomenal goalscoring level of Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.
Two goals from Germany international Marco Reus and a solo effort by Henrikh Mkhitaryan helped Dortmund to victory against Bremen.
“It is something I really want to achieve. To be the greatest, [Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Lionel] Messi can score three in one game and four the next day,” Aubameyang said.
“I have already experienced one stage with [Jurgen] Klopp, but I am trying to have a new one with [Thomas] Tuchel back in the middle.
“Of course defenders will start asking more questions of you. All those who thought Aubameyang was only about running or athletic ability were wrong.
“I was born for this, and ever since childhood I have set myself goals.”
