Second half goals from Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil made sure Arsenal did the impossible by beating the almighty Bayern Munich 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.

The Gunners needed a victory against the Bundesliga champions to keep their hopes of progressing to the next stage of this year’s Champions League alive but they survived the onslaught after the hard-fought victory.

Arsene Wenger’s side had lost their opening two fixtures to Olympiakos and Dinamo Zagreb.

Elsewhere, Chelsea played out a goalless draw with Dynamo Kyiv in Ukraine.
