With every huge summer transfer that ends up being a success, there’s often one that nosedives right off in the other direction. Not everything works in football, and most players will end up making a bad move over the course of their careers.

So here’s a look at 10 transfers from the summer that the players concerned might yet end up regretting

 

10. Papy Djilobodji (Chelsea)

When Chelsea missed out on John Stones in the summer, they decided to ‘bolster’ their defensive options by signing Michael Hector and Papy Djilobodji instead. It was bloomin’ bizarre, to say the least.

The latter arrived from Nantes and was soon left out of Chelsea’s Champions League squad, while Jose Mourinho even said last month that he didn’t decide to sign the player. He might be picking up a nicer pay-check, but the Senegalese defender’s football career is on hold.
