Mexico has appointed Juan Carlos Osorio as its national team manager as the 53-year-old Colombian takes over from interim head coach Ricardo Ferretti.

Osorio will make his debut in two World Cup qualifiers next month, when Mexico hosts El Salvador and travel to Honduras.

He becomes Mexico’s 12th coach in nine years.

Ferretti had been in charge of EL Tri since Miguel Herrera was fired in July after he punched a TV reporter at an airport in the United States.
