Arsene Wenger has given an update on England striker Danny Welbeck’s recovery from a knee injury.

The Gunners boss confirmed on Thursday that the 24-year-old former Manchester United forward is doing well and is expected to be back in action after the international break.

“Welbeck is progressing well and should be back after the international break,” Wenger said at Thursday’s pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s Barclays Premier League match at Newcastle United.

Welbeck is yet to feature for the Gunners this season after his pre-season campaign was disrupted by the same injury that kept him on the sidelines at the end of last term.
