Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has signed for Serie A club Roma on a season-long loan.
Szczesny lost his place as Arsenal’s No 1 goalkeeper last season following David Ospina’s arrival, and this summer’ signing of Petr Cech from Chelsea has pushed him further from the first team.
The 25-year-old Poland goalkeeper has been given the liberty by Arsenal to complete his summer transfer to Roma.
Roma had been interested in signing Szczesny permanently, but that did not suit the player or Arsenal at this stage.
The Gunners are currently ironing out details of the loan fee with Rudi Garcia’s side who are looking to pay an initial £250,000.
