Morocco midfielder Mehdi Carcela has signed for Benfica on a four-year deal from Belgian club Standard Liege.
Carcela, 25, has been with the Portuguese champions for two spells since 2008 as well as two seasons with Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala.
He now joins his compatriot Adel Taarabt who left relegated Queens Park Rangers on Friday to join Benfica.
“I know that Benfica are one of the biggest clubs, known in the four corners of the world,” Carcela said.
“It’s a mythical club with a great history and I can only be honoured to play for Benfica.”
