Brazil will now need a result against Venezuela to enable the Selecao progress to the knockout stages of this year’s Copa America in Chile after losing 1-0 to Colombia in the early hours of Thursday.
It was a frustrating game for Brazil despite a dominant display and the peak of it was when they had captain Neymar sent off.
The Barcelona forward was shown a red card by referee Enrique Osses for kicking the ball at Pablo Armero before aiming a headbutt at Colombia’s goalscorer Jeison Murillo after the final whistle.
However, the length of Neymar’s ban will be determined later today but Brazil will definitely be without their skipper for Sunday’s ‘must win’ final group game against Venezuela.
Both sides were eventually reduced to 10-men when Colombia also had Carlos Bacca dismissed as Jose Pekerman’s side kick-started their campaign in Santiago.
