Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement in ‘principle’ to sign 26-year-old Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels this summer according to The Sunday World.

Germany international, who helped the Die Mannschaft to World Cup glory in Brazil last year, is valued at £35million and United are more than capable to pay Dortmund that amount.

Louis van Gaal is desperate to find a replacement for injury-plagued England defenders Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, to partner consistent performer, Argentine centre-back Marcos Rojo at the heart of his defence.

The report also claims United have reached a ‘tentative’ agreement to sign versatile PSV winger Memphis Depay, who is valued at £20m.
