Chelsea have won the second edition of the UEFA Under-19 Youth League Cup after beating Shakhtar Donetsk 3-2 in the final in Nyon on Tuesday.
Barcelona won the inaugural final last season after beating Benfica’s youth side.
Isaiah Brown scored twice and Dominic Solanke nodded home the other for the Blues, who held on despite the Ukrainian side scoring a late goal to set up a nervous finish.
Chelsea saw off Roma 4-0 in the semi final, and were ahead after seven minutes through Brown, who slotted past goalkeeper Oleh Kudryk from 12 yards.
Shakhtar rallied and were level through an own goal by Andreas Christensen, turning the ball past Bradley Collins after a fine counter-attacking move.
After the break, Chelsea regained the lead through Solanke, finishing after finding some space in the penalty area from Jeremie Boga’s cross.
Eight minutes later, Chelsea were 3-1 up through Brown, who benefited from more fine play from Frenchman Boga to finish in the far corner with a low strike.
Shakhtar piled pressure on Chelsea in stoppage time through Viktor Kovalenko’s neat goal, but the Chelsea starlets held on to bring the trophy to Stamford Bridge.
