Arsenal are close to finalising the transfer of Argentine sensation labelled the ‘new Lionel Messi’ with club representative Dick Law currently in Argentina discussing terms of his contract.
The Gunners are in advanced talks with Velez Sarsfield over the £4.5m summer signing summer of 16-year-old striker Maxi Romero, Allsoccerplanet can confirm.
Though, it is understood the deal has been slightly sabotaged by troubles over Romero’s ownership rights because his agents and club Velez both own stakes in the player, which is causing complications for Arsenal.
To make the matter even more nebulous, the Premier League have strict rules regarding third-party ownership and the issue must be settled before he can play for the Gunners.
Romero, who hasn’t featured in Velez’s senior team yet but has been training with them, is expected to remain with the Argentine side on loan for at least two more seasons before moving to the Emirates Stadium to begin his career with Arsenal.
