Statistics have revealed Manchester United’s Juan Mata is the Barclays Premier League’s most prolific midfielder in terms of goals and assists since he swapped La Liga for England.
Mata ranks above other midfield juggernauts like likes of David Silva, Yaya Toure, Eden Hazard and, of course, Steven Gerrard after his latest stellar performance at Anfield where his stunning brace saw United beat Liverpool 2-1 in a rather one-sided top four clash on Sunday.
The stats were obtained from players’ performances from 2011/2012 season up until this current campaign.
Mata left Chelsea for Old Trafford after winning back to back player of the season awards, his role at Stamford Bridge became alienated when Jose Mourinho returned from Real Madrid.
Though Mata was underwhelming under former United boss David Moyes who signed him for £37.1m from the west London club in January 2014, but somehow the 26-year-old Spaniard has rediscovered his mojo under new Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal.
So are Chelsea missing Mata?
