After winning the Champions League twice in his colourful career, Portugal legend Deco has taken his mind back to the glory days to conjure a devastating dream team X1 of stars.
The 37-year-old Brazil-born midfielder won the European elite competition with FC Porto in 2004 and with Barcelona in 2006.
Overall, Deco played 103 matches in Europe scoring 19 goals.
Here is the former Chelsea playmaker’s dream team of leading players to have graced the Champions League which features legends such as Zinedine Zidane, Paul Scholes, Ronaldinho and now Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone in a breathtaking 3-4-3 formation.
Goalkeeper: Manuel Neuer
Defenders: Carles Puyol, John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho
Midfield: Diego Simeone, Paul Scholes, Xavi, Zinedine Zidane.
Attack: Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho.
Deco however went on to rate two-time FIFA footballer of the year and former Brazil dazzler Ronaldinho, as the “best player” he ever played with.
“I always remember when we (Barcelona) would go two or three goals up, and Ronny would start to enjoy himself,” Deco said.
“He done things that you just think are not possible with a football, he is the best I have ever played with.”
