On loan Chelsea midfielder Marko Marin is set to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season after an unsuccessful loan at Belgian club Anderlecht.
The 26-year-old joined Anderlecht in January but has struggled to adapt to football in Belgium as he is yet to score a goal or make an assist.
Since he joined Chelsea he has been loaned out to three different clubs [Sevilla, Fiorentina and Anderlecht]. Marin failed to register any goal playing for these clubs.
Before joining Chelsea, Marin was in fantastic form for German outfit Werder Bremen where played 87 games scoring 8 goals. He was also dubbed as “the German Messi” because of his pace and trickery on the ball.
While he was playing in the Bundesliga, he became very popular because of his specialty with setpieces.
Now at Anderlecht, the club is unwilling to pay his £4.4 million transfer fee, and according to reports in Belgium they have informed Chelsea of their decision.
The decision means the Blues face having to offload Marin yet again as they look to avoid a loss on the player they signed for approximately £7 million back in 2012.
What do you think caused Marko Marin’s sudden career decline?
