He got busted by the cops in Catalonia on October 13 last year for abusing a police after the car the 28-year-old Spaniard was travelling in was given a parking ticket.

But after a court hearing on Tuesday, judge Maria Asuncion Gonzalez fined him €10,500 for “disrespectful behaviour and being verbally aggressive”.

Ahead of Barcelona’s Copa del Rey match with Villarreal on Wednesday night, with Luis Enrique’s side taking a 3-1 lead into the second leg at the El Madrigal, Gerard Pique wrote an apology to the court hearing in Barcelona for the public order offence he committed four months ago.

The brouhaha all started when Pique’s brother was given a ticket for leaving his car in a bus lane in the Port Olimpic area of the city, which is known for its bars and nightclubs.
