Marco Reus has revealed why he rejected offers from top clubs across Europe to stay at Borussia Dortmund after signing a new deal that will keep him at the club till 2019. Clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United, Barcelona, Chelsea and Liverpool were all interested in snapping up the German attacker.
Reus told German publication Kicker: “I have decided to renew because Borussia is the club for me.
“Dortmund is my town, my family lives here and I have all my friends here. There is life beyond football and that’s why I decided to stay.
“Winning the Bundesliga is a big goal for me, I want to go back and live the experience of winning a title for my city.
“I will give everything for it to happen, and I have a feeling that we will succeed.”
BVB boss Jurgen Klopp who has seen most of his big name players leave the club after some time spoke of his delight that Reus decided to stay.
“I am very glad that he made his decision this early.
“It’s an important sign – for all of us.
“I am happy for him that he gets the standing he deserves now, there was never any reason to doubt him.”
