Forget his petulance and ambivalent tantrums on the pitch whenever he gets peeved, Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has proven once again he is a father figure and a mega humanitarian.
The 27-year-old has reportedly sent hundreds of bags filled with goodies to children at the Pereira Rossell hospital in Montevideo, in his hometown Uruguay in the spirit of the Christmas season.
Items in the gift baskets included food and drinks, and had a message attached: “Wishing you a merry Christmas and a wonderful 2015 with your loved ones. Luis Suarez and family.”
Suarez will be hoping for a much fruitful new year on the pitch after scoring just three goals in all competitions for Barcelona since joining from Liverpool in the summer.
The Uruguay skipper acts as an ambassador for children’s cancer charity, Scremini Perez, in his country and despite his controversies, which include racism and biting charges, he remains a popular figure in South America.
