Serie A giants AC Milan have renewed their shirt sponsorship contract with UAE company Emirates airline, a deal reportedly worth about £79million.
The new deal is a 40% increase on the
previous one due to expire next year, which was worth around £9.3m per
season, plus bonuses.
Emirates sponsor the shirts of teams in all of Europe’s five biggest leagues – European champions Real Madrid in La Liga, Arsenal in the Premier League, joined by Milan, Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 as well as Bundesliga’s Hamburg.
Milan are currently fifth in the Italian League, and Filippo Inzaghi’s side have 21 points from 13 games following Sunday’s 2-0 home win over Udinese. A second-half brace by Jeremy Menez secured the victory for the San Siro club.
