Radamel Falcao and Wayne Rooney are currently the highest earners at Old Trafford and in the Barclays Premier League on staggering £390,000 and £300,000 weekly wages respectively.
But Manchester United are set to add former talisman Cristiano Ronaldo to that megalomaniac list with the Portugal forward set to rejoin the Red Devils next summer from Real Madrid according to reports in Spain.
Ronaldo last week hinted that he could leave Madrid at the end of the season, he was close to sealing a return to the Theatre of Dreams in summer 2013 but the deal collapsed over the player’s wage demands.
However, a mega blockbuster £500,00-per-week contract is on the table for Ronaldo to lure him to the club that transformed him into a global star.
The 29-year-old spent six years at United under the tutelage of legendary coach Sir Alex Ferguson, after he joined from Sporting Lisbon in 2003 scoring 118 goals in 292 appearances. He also won nine trophies, and capped it all by winning his first Ballon d’Or at the club.
Meanwhile, another twist to the story is that Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has a special relationship with Jose Mourinho and Roman Abramovich, meaning the Madrid star could head to Chelsea instead.
