Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Real Madrid over the transfer of Xabi Alonso.

The club have announced that Alonso will speak to the press at 11:00 today, before the 32-year-old packs his bags and departs for Germany.

“Real Madrid C.F. and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement for the transfer of Xabi Alonso,” an official statement read on the club’s website.

“The player will speak to the media today (Friday) at 11:00h in the Santiago Bernabéu press room, alongside director of Institutional Relations, Emilio Butragueño.”

Alonso arrived at the Spanish capital-based club in 2009 and has won two Copa Del Rey titles, a Spanish La Liga title, a Spanish Supercup, a Champions League title and a UEFA Supercup.
He has also won two European Championship titles and a World Cup with the Spanish national team.

It is rumoured that Alonso asked to leave Madrid after the club signed Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich and James Rodriguez from AS Monaco, which lead the veteran to doubt whether he would be able to start in a new-look midfield for the season to come.

In 236 official appearances for Real Madrid, Alonso scored six goals for the club and made 27 assists.
